New York Jets Embarrassed as Barstool Sports Personality Rejects Interview Request

The New York Jets are in complete disarray, as they’ve fired virtually their entire coaching staff EXCEPT the one man who actually hired them all: head coach Aaron Glenn. Based on the early responses from potential replacements, the team is already facing an uphill battle to rebuild their staff for next season.

In the aftermath of Glenn’s catastrophic first year in New York, the Jets have dismissed nine coaches: Steve Wilks (defensive coordinator), Tanner Engstrand (offensive coordinator), Charles London (quarterbacks coach), Scott Turner (pass game coordinator), Eric Washington (defensive line coach), Aaron Curry (linebackers coach), Roosevelt Williams (defensive assistant), Alonso Escalante (defensive assistant), and Dre Bly (assistant defensive backs coach).

Desperate Times, Desperate Measures

With nearly their entire staff needing replacement, the Jets are apparently willing to consider controversial options.

The team’s desperation reached new heights recently. According to The Athletic’s Jets beat reporter Zack Rosenblatt, the organization contacted former Super Bowl winning head coach Jon Gruden about possibly joining Glenn’s staff. Gruden, now a Barstool Sports personality, wasn’t interested in the opportunity.

This move speaks volumes about the team’s current predicament.

Reaching out to Gruden shows just how dire the situation has become. He hasn’t coached in the NFL since 2021 and hasn’t posted a winning season since going 9-7 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2008. Since 2024, he’s been working with sports media brand Barstool Sports, largely removed from the coaching landscape.

Gruden’s NFL career ended abruptly during his tenure as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. He resigned in disgrace after numerous emails containing racist, misogynistic, and homophobic content became public – a scandal that many believed would permanently end his coaching prospects.
