Bad Bunny kicked off Saturday Night Live’s Season 51 premiere as host this weekend, just days after being named the headliner for Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. The championship game will take place on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The 31-year-old Puerto Rican superstar – who’s broken global sales records throughout his career – shared hosting duties with musical guest Doja Cat. He’s preparing to launch his ambitious Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour in November, which notably excludes any U.S. dates.

Bad Bunny previously explained he avoided scheduling American concerts due to concerns about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) potentially targeting concertgoers at his shows.

Following his Super Bowl announcement, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that ICE agents would be “all over” the February event in Santa Clara – a comment that raised eyebrows among immigration advocates.

Addressing the Backlash

The artist, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, seems unfazed by criticism surrounding his selection as halftime performer.

He directly challenged his critics during Saturday’s SNL monologue.

After delivering part of his opening remarks in Spanish, Bad Bunny looked directly into the camera and told viewers: “If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have 4 months to learn.”

The comment appeared to be a direct response to those questioning whether a primarily Spanish-language artist should headline America’s most-watched annual television event.

His Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour begins November 21 at the Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo. The massive international schedule includes stops across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia – spanning 20 countries before concluding on July 22 in Brussels.

Despite avoiding U.S. tour dates, Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance is expected to draw over 100 million viewers when he takes the stage in California next February.
