The giants of big league European soccer are coming to the States this summer as part of the MLS summer friendly schedule.
It gives US nationals of all ages the chance to see the creme de la creme of world club soccer in action – in a live arena, and on home soil.
Six games in total feature teams from Spain, Germany and the English Premier League. They take place over the course of late July.
The dates for the summer friendlies have been set although some kick off times are subject to change. The likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton will all be competing.
Here is the most up to date schedule for the MLS season friendly tour as it stands:
- Inter Miami CF vs. Barcelona, July 19, 7:30 pm ET (DRV PNK Stadium, Fort Lauderdale, FL)
- D.C. United vs. Bayern Munich, July 20, 7:30 pm ET (Audi Field, Washington DC)
- Minnesota United vs. Everton, July 20, 8 pm ET (St Paul, MN)
- Charlotte FC vs. Chelsea, July 20, time TBA (Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC)
- Orlando City vs. Arsenal, July 20, time TBA (Exploria Stadium, Orlando, FL)
- New York Red Bulls vs. Barcelona, July 30, 7 pm ET (Red Bull Arena, Harrison, NJ)
All MLS sides will be playing at their home arenas. With the likes of Inter Miami, DC United, Minnesota United, Charlotte FC, Orlando City and New York Red Bulls all participating, it gives US soccer fans nationwide the opportunity to see some of the big names in European soccer go up against local fan favorites.
It is unclear whether betting sites in the USA will be offering odds for the tour. Although other European based preseason tournaments such as the International Champions Cup are covered by odds markets here in the US.
Visiting sides will be allowed to register new signings from early June. There is a high likelihood it could be the first opportunity many will get to see new, fresh talent turning out before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
One of the definitive highlights when the summer friendly schedule gets underway will be when Inter Miami take on Barcelona. Barcelona will again be in action some days later when they travel up the east coast to take on the New York Red Bulls.
