A verdict has been handed down in the Roger Stone trial. Stone was found guilty on all seven counts in the federal trial relating to his involvement in former special Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, according to the Washington Post.
Stone was charged with making false statements, obstruction and witness tampering.
Due to the charges, Stone could face up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing which is set for February 6. Stone was initially arrested in January during an FBI raid and was charged with misleading the House Intelligence Committee about his involvement and effort to receive emails from WikiLeaks that were hacked from the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton campaign.
Following the verdict, Donald Trump took to social media to comment on the charges that his longtime ally and confidant received.
“So they now convict Roger Stone of lying and want to jail him for many years to come,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Well, what about Crooked Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Page, McCabe, Brennan, Clapper, Shifty Schiff, Ohr & Nellie, Steele & all of the others, including even Mueller himself? Didn’t they lie?
“A double standard like never seen before in the history of our country.”

Because Mr. Stone misled them, prosecutors said, lawmakers failed to pursue promising leads and arrived at inaccurate conclusions in their final report on Russia’s election interference. For instance, they said, the committee never discerned the full scope of contacts between Mr. Stone and the Trump campaign about WikiLeaks.
Stone could soon join fellow former Trump advisers like former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former Trump fixer Michael Cohen, former National Security adviser Michael Flynn, and former foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos behind bars.
