Keanu Reeves, star of The Matrix and John Wick franchises, is confirmed to appear in the upcoming SpongeBob Squarepants movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, premiering in 2020.

The film stars everyone’s favorite sea sponge, now searching the ocean blue for his beloved pet snail, Gary… again.
This isn’t the first time Gary has left SpongeBob’s side. Fans may remember his first departure in the episode “Dumped”, wherein Gary left SpongeBob to live with Patrick before returning home at the end of the episode. However, up until now, his longest departure was in the episode, “Have You Seen This Snail”, where said snail had run away from home after feeling neglected. Fans can only speculate what prompted Gary’s departure this time around. The film is set to be released in 2020.
