Actress Gina Rodriguez is back in the headlines for all of the wrong reasons. After sparking outrage for comments that were perceived as anti-black, Rodriguez became a top trend on Twitter on Tuesday, October 15 for dropping the n-word on social media.
Rodriguez was sharing a video on Instagram when she was caught using the word.
Seemingly unaware of what she did or simply not caring, Rodriguez allowed the video to stay up for hours before it began making the rounds and reigniting the controversy surrounding her past comments.

Rodriguez previously discussed inclusion in the Marvel and DC friends and was accused of putting black and Latinx actresses against each other. “Marvel and DC are killing it in inclusion and women, but where are the Latinos?! Asking for a friend,” she had tweeted at the time.
Those weren’t her only comments, either.
Rodriguez had also discussed wages while again making controversial remarks.
“White women get paid more than black women,” she said, via The Cut, “and black women get paid more than Asian women, Asian women get paid more than Latina women, and it’s like a very scary space to step into.”
It was then that she issued a tearful and emotional apology.
“I wasn’t speaking about my industry,” Rodriguez said. “I always find it difficult to talk about equal pay as a woman who makes a substantial amount of money … what I was saying was that when we talk about equal pay, we have to talk about intersectionality, because we all must rise.
“If I have hurt you, I am sorry and I will always be sorry, but you have to know that, until you know my heart, there’s no way that we can live off clickbait, you guys. You are allowed to feel pain and I empathize with your pain, and I’m sorry if I caused your pain because it is the last thing I want to do … We don’t need to fight each other and if I caused that notion, please forgive me because that is not my intent at all.”
But now that this latest video has surfaced, Rodriguez has once again found herself embroiled in controversy and this one will be a lot more difficult to overcome.
