It’s the Twins vs. Yankees. The Bomba Squad vs. The Bronx Bombers. Minnesota travels to New York to open up their American League Division Series on Friday, October 4 as the two teams meet for the fifth time in the ALDS.
New York — which enters Game 1 as a -185 favorite — has won 10 straight postseason games against the Twins and 13 of the 15 playoff games between the franchises.
However, New York will not let the history between the two teams get in their heads.
“Teams change,” New York manager Aaron Boone said, via ESPN.com. “All I know is we’re up against a really good opponent. So, I don’t at all get caught up in the history of it, honestly, just because I think there’s so many guys that have nothing to do with some of that, and we know we’re playing a great team.
“But we’re also confident that if we play our game, we have a chance to advance. It’s as simple as that, but we know we have to play well to do that.”
