Lil Wayne’s latest album is already complete. According to the rapper, Funeral — which is his follow-up to the long-awaited Tha Carter IV in 2018 — has wrapped up recording and hopes to release it by the end of the year.
Weezy dropped the update during an interview with Q93.3’s Wild Wayne.
“I’m not sure. I wouldn’t count it out but the Funeral is my next album,” Wayne said. “I’ma be dropping that by the end of the year.
“Wayne, you know how I work. My album’s always done; it just takes Mack [Maine] to come in there and wrap up a couple songs and name them. That’s how it go around here. I work every day, so, it just takes them to come in and say, ‘Let me get these 20 songs. Can I have these?’ and they name them and then we go from there.”
Lil Wayne also said that his notorious writing style of going right off the dome has not changed for the latest album.
“Same formula, I can’t write nothing down, I got way too old to be trying to read something,” he told Q93.3. “I can’t write nothing down, I’m going straight off the top…It makes everything more valid, more valuable.”
Funeral will be Lil Wayne’s 13th studio release.
