Miley Cyrus is back with some new music. On Friday, August 16, Miley dropped the new track “Slide Away” produced by Mike Will Made-It and Andrew Wyatt, who worked with Cyrus back in May on the EP SHE IS COMING.
The new single comes following the singer’s split with husband Liam Hemsworth.
“Slide Away” is an emotional track that carries a theme of moving on. The opening verse starts off: “Once upon a time, it was paradise. Once upon a time, I was paralyzed.”
Prior to releasing the song, Cyrus made a post on Instagram with a caption that echoed the theme of moving on.
“Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win,” Cyrus wrote. “Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable. The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed. My dad always told me ‘Nature never hurries but it is always on time’…. it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true. I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own.”
