World’s 50 Most Valued Sports Franchises for 2019 Released by Forbes

This week, Forbes released its list of the most valued sports franchises in the world for 2019. The annual list compiles the most valued franchises based on earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. The list features teams from soccer, professional football, Major League Baseball, and professional basketball.

“The NFL remains the most dominant sports leagues with more than half of the 50 most valuable sports franchises, but the other major sports chipped away at its dominance during the past year,” the list noted.

Earning the spot on this list from Forbes is once again the Dallas Cowboys. It marks the fourth straight year that Jerry Jones franchise has led the way.

The NFL benefits from its plethora of television deals and corporate partners. The top networks paid more than $260 million per team during the 2018-19 season for their broadcasting rights, according to the report.

The other spots in the top five include the New York Yankees, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and New York Knicks with each franchise receiving a value of more than $4 billion. A total of 26 NFL teams, 9 MLB teams, 8 soccer club, and 7 NBA teams cracking the list.

Each of the top 50 franchises are valued at more than $2.075 billion.
