Former XFL star Rod Smart, who was known as “He Hate Me,” has been reported missing, according to a statement from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. Smart was last seen on June 12 driving his silver 2016 Nissan Maxima and is considered an “endangered person,” Andrew Dys of the Rock Hill Herald reports.
The missing poster adds: “It is unusual for him to be out of touch for this long. Mr. Smart’s family is worried about his safety and well-being.”
Along with his time as a member of the XFL’s Las Vegas Outlaws, the 42-year-old Smart also played in the National Football League as a member of the Carolina Panthers for four seasons, including the 2003 NFC Championship team. He also had brief stints with the San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos.
“Family and deputies have concerns about his well-being and safety,” said Doug Barfield, spokesman for Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Smart was born on January 9, 1977, in Lakeland, Florida. His full name is Torrold DeShaun Smart, and he was undrafted in 2000 after a college career at Western Kentucky where he was also a member of the track and field team. Throughout his NFL career, Smart rushed for 67 yards but made his biggest impact in the return game with 1,731 kick return yards and one touchdown.
Following his football career, Smart became a personal trainer and it is reported that he was working as a high school guidance counselor.
