The Golden State Warriors watched their reign as NBA Champions come to an end on Thursday, June 13 with the Toronto Raptors spoiling the final game at Oracle Arena to claim their first NBA title in league history.
Toronto was able to hang on in Game 6 to score the big victory that clinched their championship.
Golden State — which lost star Kevin Durant to a ruptured Achilles earlier in the series — saw another star go down in Game 6 when sharpshooter Klay Thompson went down with a knee injury. After the game, it was confirmed that Thompson suffered a torn ACL.
With the Raptors win, a two-year reign atop the NBA was ended in Golden State, but that led to plenty of rejoicing on social media. Immediately following the Raptors’ win, fans rushed to social media to share their thoughts and favorite memes to poke at the end of a dynasty.
