NFL star Aaron Rodgers made a cameo during the final season of the HBO hit series Game of Thrones, but that didn’t stop the Green Bay Packers quarterback from critiquing the show like many others who have been fans for the past decade.
During a recent interview, Rodgers shared his thoughts on how the series ended and he made it clear that he was not a big fan.
“I love the show and it was a great 10 years, but no,” he said when asked if he enjoyed the ending, via WSIN News 12’s Stephen Watson. “I mean, you come down to the end and Tyrion says the person with the best story is Bran, who by the way three episodes ago said he wasn’t Bran Stark anymore.” He argued that several characters, including Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, would’ve been better suited to take their place on the Iron Throne.
“Here’s the thing, though, here’s my last theory. If Bran, the three-eyed raven who’s all about the health of the realm, let’s think about what he did. Basically wanted the Throne the whole time because he’s the one that told the Starks knowing that Sansa would tell Tyrion, knowing that Tyrion would talk to Varys, knowing they’d scheme for Dany’s death, knowing that would piss her off, which led her to be the Mad Queen. So, he the entire time had to set this whole thing up? And at the end, he goes, ‘I don’t want to be king, but why did I travel all this way to be here?’ No.”

So, there you have it. Even someone who was on the show wasn’t a fan of how it all played out.
Hopefully George RR Martin’s “The Winds of Winter” will provide a more satisfactory ending when he drops the penultimate book of his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series by 2020 — if his promise comes to fruition.
