While the NBA Draft Lottery is one of the more ridiculous and overblown nights in American sports, if any league has the ability to make something so patently stupid actually somewhat enjoyable, its the National Basketball Association — and last night did not disappoint.
A mixture of heartbreak and hope, the NBA Draft Lottery marks a turning point for many of the league’s 30 teams. For example, the New Orleans Pelicans, who were on the brink of an existential crisis due to the whole Anthony Davis situation, had their fortunes turned around in a heartbeat when they landed the #1 overall pick.
Then, of course, there are the New York Knicks, who were the story of the night heading into the lottery, but came out the other side as the butt of everyone’s jokes.
Finally, there’s the Los Angeles Lakers, who despite the narrow odds, somehow squeaked their way into the Top 4 picks. And while the Los Angeles Lakers stealing a high pick was certainly a point of discussion, it was from their highlight of the night.
No, their highlight of the night was when fans noticed that — perhaps in tribute to (the likely-soon-to-be-dead) Tyrion Lannister — that Kuzma’s Lakers purple suit came decked out with a clean, gold Hand of the King pin.

While there’s no guarantee that this is a “tribute” to Tyrion Lannister, given that he’s the most prominent “Hand of the BLANK” still alive on the show, we’d going to assume that Kuzma was thinking of Tyrion and not the diddler that is Qyburn when he put the pin on.
