Massive Fire Breaks Out At Notre Dame Cathedral In Paris: Photos & Videos

UPDATE: The spire at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France has collapsed after a furious blaze on Monday, April 15.

“Our Lady of Paris in flames. Emotion of a whole nation. Thought for all Catholics and for all French,” Emmanuel Macron, the president of France tweeted. “Like all our countrymen, I’m sad tonight to see this part of us burn.”

The entire frame of the building is reportedly now on fire, with a majority of the roof collapsing.

The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is on fire. On Monday, April 15, a major blaze broke out in the building which caused the fire department to respond. An official cause of the fire has yet to be announced by authorities.
The cathedral, which is engulfed in flames all the way to the spire, is 900-years-old.

It was not immediately clear what had caused the fire. France 2 television reported that police were treating the incident as an accident. The cathedral, which dates back to the 12th century and is famous for featuring in Victor Hugo’s classic novel the Hunchback of Notre-Dame, attracts millions of tourists every year.
