Update (4:26 p.m. EST): The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that while an unidentified suspect is in custody following reports of a “man with a gun” at the Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center in Harbor City, they have not found any “evidence of a gun or a shooting.”
“We have taken the suspect of the Man with a Gun radio call at Kaiser Permanente South Bay into custody. At this point, we have no evidence of a gun or a shooting,” the LAPD’s tweet reads.

Los Angeles police responded to reports of a “man with a gun” at the Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center in Harbor City, Los Angeles County, California.
The LAPD Harbor Division confirmed the reports of a “man with a gun” in a tweet. Civilians at the facility were asked to shelter-in-place and those outside the facility were asked to avoid the area.
“We responded to reports of a Man with a Gun at Kaiser Permanente South Bay. We are currently on scene searching the area. @KPSouthBay is currently on lock-down as a precaution and they are asking for people on campus to shelter in place. Please avoid the area,” the LAPD’s tweet read.
The area and facility were locked down while LAPD officers investigated the reports.
According to Patch, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department said that “a search team is in the center searching for the suspect.”
An automated voice announcing a “code silver” can be heard in a video that was allegedly recorded at the scene.
