The 2019 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament comes to an end on Sunday, April 8 with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Baylor Bears facing off for the national championship. Both teams were No. 1 seeds entering March Madness.
The matchup between Notre Dame and Baylor features the NCAA’s top two scoring offenses from inside of the paint this season.
Notre Dame was able to run through the Chicago Region, including a tough win over No. 4 seed Texas A&M. The Fighting Irish also knocked off No. 16 Bethune-Cookman, No. 9 Michigan State, and No. 2 Stanford. In the Final Four, the Fighting Irish took down Geno Auriemma and the UCONN Huskies.
Baylor, meanwhile, punched its ticket to the Final Four by steamrolling the competition in the Greensboro Region. Baylor was never threatened in its outings against No. 16 Abilene Christian, No. 8 California, No. 4 South Carolina, and No. 2 Iowa. In the Final Four, Baylor knocked off the Oregon Ducks.
