College Students & Millenials Are Throwing Support Behind Pete Buttigieg

Pete Buttigieg is a name to watch in the 2020 presidential election and is widely considered a darkhorse candidate in the Democratic party. Buttigieg, who is currently the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, has yet to officially declare his candidacy but is rising in popularity.
In a recent poll of likely Democratic Iowa caucusgoers surveyed by Emerson Polling, Buttigieg earned 11 percent of the vote.
That is notable because that places Buttigieg in third-place behind former vice president Joe Biden (25 percent) and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (24) percent. Senator Kamala Harris is the only other candidate to poll in the double digits.
If Buttigieg does officially run, he would be the first openly gay Democratic candidate ever to run for President. He could also make history as the first openly gay President of the United States and the youngest.
The best news for Buttigieg is that he is polling second in the 18-to-29-year-old demographic with 22 percent behind only Bernie Sanders.
