53-Year-Old Merilee Joyce Turner Streams Her Suicide On Facebook Live

Family and friends of Merilee Joyce Turner, a 53-year-old woman from Florida, were left shocked and horrified by what they had stumbled across on Facebook late Wednesday night. According to the Miami Herald, Turner committed suicide and broadcast the moment on Facebook Live for everyone to see.
One viewer immediately contacted authorities when they saw the video.
However, when emergency crews arrived, Turner was pronounced dead at the scene with an apparent stabbing wound.
“Foul play is not suspected,” Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Adam Linhardt said in a statement to the newspaper. “We’re not looking for anybody. It’s obviously self-inflicted wounds, but there could have been other factors involved.”
From the report:

Merilee Joyce Turner, of Cudjoe Key, whose friends called her by the nickname “Mouse,” was seen by several people wounding herself with an object, said sheriff’s office spokesman Adam Linhardt. The sheriff’s office responded to a home in the 21000 block of Old State Road 4A at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday. The report is heavily redacted as deputies are still investigating, but states that the woman had possibly stabbed herself.

An autopsy is still pending and Facebook has since removed the video from their platform.
Turner’s Facebook page states that she was a native of Deerfield, Illinois and had previously studied at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Turner was currently living in Cudjoe Key, part of the Florida Keys.
