The National Football League announced its full list of compensatory picks for the 2019 NFL Draft. A total of 32 picks were awarded to 15 teams. Unfortunately for the rest of the league, the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots were among the most awarded picks.
New England, the Arizona Cardinals, and Washington Redskins all led the way with four compensatory selections.
Washington received the highest compensatory pick — No. 96 overall and the No. 33 pick in the third-round — while New England picked up two third-round compensatory picks of their own. The Super Bowl runner-up Los Angeles Rams also earned two third-round compensatory picks, with the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens each picking up one.
Compensatory selections are awarded each year to teams that lost key players in free agency. They are determined by playing time and postseason awards/success.
The 2019 NFL Draft will take place between April 25 and April 27 in Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville earned the honor of hosting the 84th annual player selection over cities Denver, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and Cleveland/Canton.
