A resurgent Manchester United team, who have only lost one of their last 12 games under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær, head to London to take on Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea team, which has struggled mightily in recent weeks.
Chelsea — who defeated Sheffield Wednesday in the 4th round of the cup to advance to this stage — have hit their roughest patch of the season, as they have lost to Bournemouth and Manchester City by a combined score of 10-0 in recent weeks.
While wins over lowly Huddersfield Town and Swedish team Malmo have been sandwiched in between those lopsided losses, there’s no denying that this Chelsea side is a wounded animal right now.
However, while United may have been enjoying a good run of form during Chelsea’s downswing, they may not be able to capitalize on that disparity in quality today, as two of United’s leading attacking threats — Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard — are out due to injury.
