A University of North Carolina at Greensboro student found herself in a bizarre and troubling situation over the weekend when she returned home and heard a rattling in her closet. Inside was 30-year-old Andrew Clyde Swofford, who was reportedly wearing her clothes.
According to My FOX 8, the student, who identified herself as Maddie, and her roommates believed that it was either a ghost or rodent inside of her closet.
However, it turned out to be Swofford, who has prior legal issues.
“I just hear rattling in my closet. It sounded like a raccoon in my closet,” Maddie told the news outlet. “I’m like who’s there? And somebody answers me. He’s like ‘oh my name is Drew.’ I open the door and he’s in there, wearing all of my clothes. My socks. My shoes. And he has a book bag full of my clothes.”

She had noticed articles of clothing missing in recent days.
“I’ve been having like pieces of clothes missing. Like shirts and pants,” she said.
Maddie says that Swofford never touched her, but at one point he did say “you’re really pretty, can I give you a hug?” Maddie alerted her boyfriend and was waiting for him to arrive. It was not the first time that unknown men have found themselves inside of Maddie’s apartment, either.
“There was two guys in the living room,” Maddie said.
That was December 19th. The women alerted the leasing office.
An employee confirmed they changed the locks at that time but did not file a police report. FOX8 was told that was standard protocol.
But Maddie and her roommate say they’ve had enough.
Maddie is currently looking to leave her current apartment.
“Last night I did not feel safe. I slept with my roommate in her bed,” she said. “I can’t stay here. My closet, it stinks. Every time I go in [my room] there’s a bad vibe. I’m just ready to leave.”
Swofford remains in jail.
