Following the very public mental breakdown Kanye West had on Twitter last week, Pete Davidson posted a very troubling post to Instagram that suggested he was having suicidal thoughts.
The message, which appeared to be written on the iPhone Notes app, read: “i really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. i’m doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don’t know how much longer i can last. all i’ve ever tried to do is help people. just remember i told you so.” While Davidson quickly deleted the post, presumably thousands of people saw it before he was able to take it down.

After the Instagram message was put up, the New York City Police Department conducted a wellness check of Davidson at 30 Rock studios in New York City prior to the episode taping. In addition to the NYPD, Davidson’s ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande showed up at 30 Rock, however, Davidson had his security detail keep her away.
In addition to the NYPD’s wellness check and Ariana Grande‘s arrival, longtime Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Michaels made the decision to scrap all of Davidson’s sketches, according to Page Six.

A source told Page Six: “The decision was taken to give Pete a break on Saturday night – his sketches were dropped before the early evening rehearsals.
“Lorne has pledged to help all he can, including sending Pete to get help. Everyone on the cast is hugely protective of him and were obviously upset — particularly Colin Jost and Michael Che on ‘Weekend Update.’”
It’s believed that Davidson will return to the show in the New Year when it’s back on air – and there have been no conversations about him taking time off, sources tell us.
Davidson did actually pop up in the episode, though, as he appeared as actor Rami Malek in a pre-taped sketch about celebrities auditioning to become the host of the Academy Awards. He was also seen in a pre-taped introduction of Miley Cyrus, Mark Ronson, and Sean Lennon, who performed John Lennon’s “Happy Christmas (War is Over).”
While Davidson initially seemed to be handling his break-up with Grande well (he did a stand-up set for a Judd Apatow charity function where he joked about the very public split), it seems his mind has since taken him to a darker place, so we wish Davidson all the best during these difficult times.
