UPDATE: It appears that the new Kanye West track “Idk” may have been leaked prematurely or it was completely uploaded to the wrong artist page due to a tech error. Shortly after the mysterious track surfaced on Apple Music, it was removed from the service.
A new Kanye West track titled “Idk” has surfaced on iTunes as music fans wait for his upcoming project “Yandhi” to drop. Kanye had said that his album would drop in late September 2018, but once the release date came, the album never showed up. The album is now set to release on Black Friday, November 23.
As for why the album never came on time, Kanye told TMZ: “I didn’t finish it. A person from my management staff, our management staff, had suggested because the album is so good, it’s my…I started incorporating sounds that you never heard before and pushing it, and having like, concepts that people don’t, you know, talk about.”
Kanye claimed that he would be heading to Africa to finish up “Yandhi.”
“I felt this energy when I was in Chicago, I felt the roots. But we have to go to what is known as Africa. I need to go, I need to find out what it’s really called. Just grab the soil and be and cook food, five meals a day so the metabolism stays up, have my kids in the studio, have the mic out in the open so you can hear nature while we’re recording.”
But while we wait for the new album — which will be Kanye’s ninth studio album — we do get a taste of the sound thanks to the new single.
