The New England Patriots acquired talented but troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon from the Cleveland Browns for a 5th round pick and Twitter reacted accordingly.
According to reports — originally from NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport — the New England Patriots sent the Cleveland Browns a 2019 fifth-round pick for Josh Gordon. If Gordon is not active for 10 games of the 2018 season, the Patriots will get back a 2019 7th round pick from the Browns.
Additionally, after not playing this weekend against the Saints in New Orleans, Gordon — who was nursing a strained hamstring — is reportedly healthy enough to suit up against the Detroit Lions this Sunday.
While the Browns originally announced they were going to be releasing Gordon, once they realized he could generate interest on the trade market (because, duh dude, he’s a 27-year-old elite athlete with the skill set to be a top 5 receiver, why wouldn’t you take a shot?!), they began talking with Cowboys, Redskins, 49ers and other potential suitors before Bill Belichick and the Patriots closed the deal.
Because of course they did. The Patriots always do.

The Patriots look to rebound after their first loss of the season against Jacksonville while the Browns will hope to get their first win of the season against the Jets.
