Jason Hairston, a former NFL player for the San Francisco 49ers and founder of KUIU hunting gear, is dead at age 47. His company announced his passing this week, on Wednesday, Sept. 5. KUIU had sales worth $50 million in 2016.
“We are shocked and saddened to announce the tragic passing of KUIU founder Jason Hairston. His legacy lives on in KUIU’s spirit of relentless innovation,” the KUIU Facebook page read.
Hairston was recently on a hunting trip with Donald Trump Jr.
Hairston leaves behind his wife Kirstyn and their two children, Cash and Coco.

Who Is Jason Hairston?
Hairston attended the University of California, Davis and starred on the Aggies football team. He suffered a broken neck during his junior year but still managed to go on to play for the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. Hairston was in the league for just one year before retiring. He then went on to have a career in a commercial real estate, before starting his hunting gear company KUIU.
Hairston had accepted a job as liason to the United States Department of the Interior and hunting groups on conservation and public land issues.
