To be honest, this article in and of itself is kind of redundant. If you actually thought Tormund and Beric were dead, are you even a real Game Of Thrones fan? Probably not.
Yes, Game Of Thrones has become synonymous with mercilessly killing off main characters, but when they do it, they’re at least intelligent enough to do so ON SCREEN. While killing characters as pivotal and universally loved as Tormund and Beric are certainly not out of the question, killing them off-camera definitely is.
Which is why anyone who thought they died when the wall collapsed in the season 7 finale is, essentially, an idiot. Sorry, but it had to be said.
However, if you weren’t able to put two and two together, UPROXX has done it for you, pointing out that not only has the actor who plays Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) been spotted in Belfast but the recently-released script from the season seven finale all but confirms the two fan-favorites survived the collapse of the wall.
via UPROXX:
HBO submitted the finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf,” for Emmys consideration; it was nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, along with episodes of The Americans, The Crown, The Handmaid’s Eve, Killing Eve, and Stranger Things.
In the section applying to Tormund and Beric, the script, which has been released online, reads, “Tormund and Beric lead their wildling comrades to the stairs carved in the ice — Eastwatch has a massive zig-zag stairway, not an elevator like Castle Black. They run for their lives and disappear from view.”
Game Of Thrones eighth and final season is set to premiere in the first half of 2019, likely sometime around April. As for the highly-anticipated prequel — while not much is known about the specific details of the plot — it will begin production this upcoming fall in Belfast.
