The 2018 college football season is just around the corner. In anticipation of the new year, the Amway Coaches Poll has dropped its preseason rankings which will set the tone for the upcoming year. While the Alabama Crimson Tide lost a number of key pieces, the defending national champions were the projected No. 1 ahead of the official unveiling on Thursday at noon ET.
The Coaches Poll, which is not part of the College Football Playoff selection committee’s formula to determine the four teams that will compete for the College Football Playoff National Championship, is voted on by 65 FBS head coaches.
The first regular-season poll is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, Sept. 4 after the first full week of the season concludes, while the final regular-season poll will drop on Dec. 2.
