Chloe Kim, 18, is known for being the youngest woman to win an Olympic gold medal in snowboarding when she won the gold at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Kim, an American, is of South Korean descent.
Kim, who won gold in the snowboard halfpipe at the age of 17 at the 2018 Winter Olympics, is also a is a four-time X Games gold medal winner.
While Kim’s parents hail from South Korea, Chloe was born in Long Beach, California before being raised in nearby Torrance. Kim began snowboarding at a very early age before beginning competition snowboarding at the age 6 years old.
Kim began training Switzerland when she was 8 before returning to California when she was 10. At the age of 13, Kim joined the U.S. Snowboarding team.
In 2016, two years before her Olympic triumph, Kim became the first American woman to win a gold medal in snowboarding at the Winter Youth Olympic Games.
Her gold medal win provided Kim with massive stardom as she was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and Kellogg’s Corn Flakes. Barbie is also making a doll modeled after Kim.
Also in 2018, Kim was one of the many prominent celebrity women to be featured in the music video for Maroon 5’s single “Girls Like You”.
Kim is also a member of Princeton University’s Class of 2022
