The Maxwell Football Club has just announced its watch lists for the 82nd annual Maxwell Award and its 24th annual Chuck Bednarik Award. Let’s take a brief look at the history of both awards and who is on the 2018 watch lists! Best of all, you can also vote for your pick at the end!
What is the Maxwell Award?
According to the official press release, the Maxwell Award is named in honor of Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell, who was not just a player, but a sportswriter and an official as well.
Over the years, the award has been given to America’s College Player of the Year since 1937.
Likewise, the Bednarik Award is presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year, named in honor of Chuck Bednarik, a former standout at Penn and with the Philadelphia Eagles, and has been given out since 1995.
