With the second semifinal matchup on Wednesday, it is time to see which team will be battling France in the 2018 World Cup Final. In this semifinals match, Croatia will be playing against England. These teams have struggled at times thus far in the tournament but were able to overcome those trials and tribulations to make it into the semifinals. Both teams will understandably lay it all on the line this Wednesday which should lead to a very competitive match.
Croatia’s success is due to its star goalkeeper Danijel Subašić. Anytime a team is able to win multiple penalty shootouts in a row, one has to look at the team’s goalkeeper. Subašić stood on his head against Denmark and Russia in order to lead his national team to the World Cup semifinals. Now, Subašić will need to be sharp once more against a very potent English attack. Look for him to play extremely well in net as Croatia will most likely play more defensively in order to contain England’s offense effectively.
England entered the World Cup as a dark horse candidate to win the entire tournament. The nation takes great pride in its soccer team but the team has notoriously underachieved over the last few decades in these major tournaments. However, England are now in the semifinals and have a chance to advance to its first World Cup final since 1966. England’s best player, Harry Kane, has been remarkable during the tournament and will likely play a big role in England’s gameplan for Wednesday. In four World Cup game appearances, Kane has scored six goals. Look for Kane to score another one if England plans on winning this contest.

England and Croatia are extremely even teams but I think that Harry Kane puts England slightly over the top.
