The suspect is 39-year-old Larry Covington.
From Shannon Smith of WBIR in Knoxville: “FBI rep says KPD will take the lead on the investigation into the US Marshal involved shooting at the post office on Weisgarber Road in West Knoxville. The suspect is Larry Steven Covington, 5-foot-10, still at large.”
Covington failed to turn himself in after being sentenced to 46 months in federal prison on tax fraud back in April. When police confronted him, he refused to be taken into custody and shots were exchanged with U.S. Marshals. No one was injured.
