How To Keep Hydrated This Summer: Must-See Tips & Advice

Celebrating the first day of summer on June 21st, it’s time to get responsible. It’s going to be a hot summer, and we need to focus on taking care of our bodies. Water is the key. We need to keep our bodies hydrated through the summer. A lot of people are caught up in having fun in the summer, which they should be doing, but they aren’t paying attention to the amount of water they are consuming. That feeling of lightheadedness or black spots filling your eyes when you stand up is a sign of dehydration. Here are some tips on how to stay hydrated during the summer.

Always Carry A Water Bottle With You

Whether you are sitting at home, behind your desk, or walking, always carry a water bottle with you. Train your body to drink as much as you can every day. By bringing a water bottle with you every day, you will mindlessly sip from it throughout your day. You won’t have to make a conscious effort at getting yourself to drink water.

Have A Glass Of Water For Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

It’s natural for people to eat their three daily meals, so why not add a glass of water to those regular meals? It’s second nature to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. By adding in the glass of water not only are you getting hydration but you will train your mind always to get a glass of water at each meal.

Through The Evening Sip On A Cup Of Tea

If this becomes a habit, you will add a cup of fluid to your day. Drinking a cup of tea every day will help you hydrate. This is also a plus with the tea providing relaxation to the body. With relaxation comes a lowering of stress by the end of the day. Not only are you hydrated but you become less stressed.

Set Goals

Make a plan each week to create a hydration goal. Every day you must drink a certain amount of water you have set for yourself. If you succeed in your goal, you can reward yourself at the end of the week. You don’t have to, but it does help you want to keep hydrated so you can get that reward. Another goal can be from drawing on your water bottle. Trace a line of where you should finish with your water at the end of the day. This only works if you are drinking from a large bottle of water.

Flavor Your Water Or Drink A Sports Drink

Some people might not like the taste of water or could get tired of drinking plain water. Try to add some strawberries, lemons, mint or cucumbers to add a sweet, refreshing flavor. And if you aren’t feeling the flavored water, you can try Gatorade or Powerade. Don’t drink Gatorade or Powerade all the time, mix in with some water. But, Gatorade and Powerade can be a good substitute.
