Richard Harrison, known as “Old Man” on the History Channel reality series Pawn Stars, has died at 77-years-old.
Richard’s son Rick Harrison said in a statement that he “passed away this morning surrounded by those he loved. “He will be tremendously missed by our family, the team at Gold & Silver Pawn and his many fans the world over,” the statement read.
Pawn Stars is an American reality television series filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show, which premiered on July 26, 2009, follows the daily activities at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop.
The World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop is a 24-hour family business opened in 1989. It was operated by Richard “Old Man” Harrison (prior to his death), his son Rick Harrison, Rick’s son Corey Harrison, and Corey’s childhood friend, Austin Russell.
Pawn Stars, which has been on the air since 2009, shows the staff interacting with customers who bring in various of artifacts to sell or pawn. The staff and the customers are shown haggling over the price of the artifact while discussing its historical background. The narration of the show is usually provided by either the Harrisons or Chumlee.
Harrison was a veteran of the United States Navy.

“It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Richard Benjamin Harrison (known as ‘The Old Man’ to ‘Pawn Stars’ fans the world over) this morning. He was surrounded by loving family this past weekend and went peacefully.
The team at Gold & Silver Pawn and the Pawn Stars family is grieving his loss. He will be remembered as the best father, grandfather and great-grandfather you could have by his family and by fans as the sometimes grumpy (always loving, however), often wisecracking, and voice of absolute reason on the History television show ‘Pawn Stars’. Services are pending and the family appreciates your prayers and kind words.”
