Adeleke was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of a Nigerian business magnate and a university lecturer. He attended the British Internation School in Lagos, later studying Business Administration at Oakwood University before relocating to Nigeria. It was at the university that he first became seriously interested in music, although he eventually dropped out and relocated to London.

In 2011, Adeleke enrolled at Babcock University, eventually earning a music degree. At this time, he started work towards his first studio album, Omo Baba Olowo. Davido signed a ₦30 million endorsement deal with MTN, making him the face of MTN Pulse.
