The Early Years
Adeleke was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of a Nigerian business magnate and a university lecturer. He attended the British Internation School in Lagos, later studying Business Administration at Oakwood University before relocating to Nigeria. It was at the university that he first became seriously interested in music, although he eventually dropped out and relocated to London.
In 2011, Adeleke enrolled at Babcock University, eventually earning a music degree. At this time, he started work towards his first studio album, Omo Baba Olowo. Davido signed a ₦30 million endorsement deal with MTN, making him the face of MTN Pulse. By 2013, he then started work on his second studio album, releasing singles like “Gobe” and “One of a Kind;” as the project continued, singles from the album also came out in 2014, such as “Aye and “Tchelete (Goodlife).” The same year, we also worked on a song for DSTV’s Africa Rising campaign, which hoped to inspire Africans to work towards community-based social investment projects.
