Rachel Nichols, born October 18, 1973, is a sports journalist and television hot who is currently a television host, reporter, and anchor for ESPN. Nichols ‘ main gig is hosting the NBA show The Jump.

Prior to hosting The Jump, Nichols previously worked for ESPN on SportsCenter, Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown, E:60, and the network’s NFL and NBA coverage.
Nichols graduated from Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland, in 1991. After high school, she attended Northwestern University where she graduated from the Medill School of Journalism in 1995. Nichols got married to film director Max Nichols in Venice, Italy, in 2001.
Before working at ESPN, Nichols worked at the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel (1995–1996) and Washington Post (1996–2004), where she covered the NHL’s Washington Capitals.
She left ESPN for CNN briefly in 2013 before returning in 2015 to begin hosting The Jump. During her second stint with ESPN, became a recurring guest-host on the Pardon the Interruption.
Nichols is considered to be a pioneering sports journalist, as Sports Illustrated has referred to her the United States’ “most impactful and prominent sports journalist.” As a journalist, Nichols has earned praise for her questioning of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in the wake of the Ray Rice scandal and Floyd Mayweather about his domestic abuse.
During her career, Nichols has been named one of Esquire’s “Women We Love”, one of The Hollywood Reporter’s “10 Most Powerful Voices in Sports Media”.
