Police were called to the Kappa Alpha Order house in the 300 block of East Church Street at Miami University due to a reported burglary.
Reports indicate that police were contacted by the person who is in charge of the fraternity house during the school’s summer break. That person who had been notified of the robbery by the property management firm that oversees the house.
My Dayton Daily News reports that police were shown video of someone entering the house using the proper combination at 2:30 a.m. on June 2.
Surveillance video from the fraternity showed an unidentified man walking around the house, attempting to turn on the television. The police report says that when the TV did not turn on, the suspect is seen in the video “stabbing the TV with the remote control”, which caused damage to it.
Furthermore, an additional video that was taken at 2:20 a.m. on June 3 shows two men enter the house using the front door combination code and then “stuffing the kitchen sink drains with paper towels and turning on the water” causing water damage to the floor and some to the downstairs area.
University police say they believe that one of the two suspects seen on the June 3 surveillance video is the same person from the TV incident the previous night.
After sending a photo of the suspect to were told to Kappa Alpha members, police say that they believe it to be a person expected to return for his senior year at Miami University this upcoming fall.
