Hazard was born in La Louvière and grew up in Braine-le-Comte. Both his mother and father were football players, with his father even playing at a semi-professional level as a defensive midfielder. His mother even stopped playing when she learned she was three months pregnant with Eden. At the young age of four, Hazard began his football career playing for hometown club Royal Stade Brainois. In 2005, he moved to France joining first division club Lille, where he stayed for over eight years.
