Russia vs. Saudi Arabia officially kicks off the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday morning when the host nation welcomes The Green to Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. Russia enters the tournament as the lowest-country in the 32-team field, but they still have high hopes of advancing past the group stage of any tournament since 2008 with the support of their home fans.
For Saudi Arabia, it’s an opportunity to make an immediate splash in the tournament with all eyes on them. The Green will be looking to reach the second-round of the tournament — the country’s best-ever performance at a World Cup — for the first time since 1994 in the United States when they were eliminated by Sweden.
