“Today was greeted by the sad news of the passing of Danny Kirwan in London, England. Danny was a huge force in our early years. His love for the Blues led him to being asked to join Fleetwood Mac in 1968, where he made his musical home for many years.”
“Danny’s true legacy, in my mind, will forever live on in the music he wrote and played so beautifully as a part of the foundation of Fleetwood Mac, that has now endured for over fifty years.”

The post added that Kirwan’s work was featured on “Then Play On” (​1969), “Blues Jam at Chess” (​1969),
“Kiln House” (​1970), “Future Games” (​1971) and “Bare Trees” (​1972). Kirwan had been part of the band from 1968 to 1972. According to The Fix, Kirwan, identified as a South London native, was said to have joined the band’s line-up in early 1968 at the age of 17. In its earliest incarnation, the group was said to be part of the English blues scene.
Divorced at the time of his death, Kirwan is believed to be survived by a son.
According to News 1130, Kirwan was among the eight members of the band, including Fleetwood himself, as well as Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Peter Green, John McVie, Christine McVie and Jeremy Spencer, to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
