Gadot was born on April 30, 1985, in Rosh Ha’Ayin, Israel. She and her husband have two daughters. Her family is Ashkenazi Jewish. Her father is a sixth-generation Israeli. Her maternal grandparents were born in Europe, and her maternal grandfather, who was from Czechoslovakia, survived Auschwitz. Her other ancestors lived in Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Austria, and Germany.

After serving two years in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Gadot went on to be named Miss Israel in 2004. She then was sent to represent her country at the 2004 Miss Universe.
In 2008, Gadot married her longtime boyfriend, Yaron Varsano, an Israel Businessman. Gadot and her husband own a hotel in the district of NeveTzedek in Tel Aviv.
Gal began modeling in the late 2000s and made her film debut in the fourth film of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast & Furious (2009), as Gisele. Gadot received swordsmanship, Kung Fu kickboxing, Capoeira and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in preparation for the role.
