Katja Herbers is a Dutch actress best known for her various roles on HBO. Herbers is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Emily, the daughter of The Man in Black, on HBO’s Westworld. Westworld is not Katja’s first role on HBO, though, as she played a scientist in the third season of HBO’s The Leftovers . Aside from her HBO roles, Herbers is best know nfor playing Dr. Helen Prins on the American television series Manhattan and Joyce on the Dutch show Divorce.
Herbers was born on October 19, 1980 in the Netherlands before growing up in the United States as her mother, a violinist, was on tour with the group L’Archibudelli. While growing up, Herbers learned to speak Dutch, German, and English. In college, she studied psychology at the University of Amsterdam. During college, she attended the local theatre school De Trap. After graduating, she moved to New York and went to the HB Studio before getting accepted into the Theaterschool in Amsterdam, which she attended from 2001–2005.
Her acting breakout in the United States came in 2014 when she won the role of physicist Helen Prins in WGN America’s drama series Manhattan. She also landed a recurring role in the third season of FX’s The Americans.
In 2017, she appeared on the third and final season o The Leftovers for three episodes and well as being signed for a recurring role on HBO’s Westworld .
