Dixon High School Lockdown: Full Story & Must-See Details

Police responded to Dixon High School on Wednesday morning after shots were exchanged with officers on duty. A “male suspect” engaged in the shooting at about 8:00 a.m. local time. According to Chicago’s WGN 9, a high-school aged male suspect open fired on police, firing multiple rounds, before the officer fired back. The suspect was struck.
After being hit, the suspect was taken into custody with non-life-threatening injuries.

“No students or staff were injured in the incident,” officials said.

According to a spokesperson for District 170, students were being moved to the school’s armory where they could be picked up by parents. Parents are being required to show ID to pick up their children. City officials, however, said a “school unification point” was being set up at the baseball fields in Page Park where parents could pick up children.

The school is currently on lockdown and multiple police agencies are on the scene. Authorities believe that the suspect acted alone and that there is no further threat to students or staff.
