TNT’s pilot episode of The Alienist is finally here for the world’s pleasure. The series, which is a drama mystery series period piece is based on the novel of the same name by Caleb Carr is set in 1896. The series encircles the story of some gruesome murders of boy prostitutes that have struck New York City.

The series plot involves newly appointed police commissioner Teddy Roosevelt (Brian Geraghty)  who calls upon Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl), a criminal psychologist – aka alienist – and newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans) to conduct the investigation in secret. Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), a headstrong secretary at police headquarters joins them in their quest.

The series looks like it will fair well on TNT in the time slot given plus having the sensational and superbly talented Fanning in the cast can only help the series. Drama mysteries are always a blast to watch and having it take place in the 1800’s will make it that more interesting.
