Jon Gruden Net Worth 2022: How Much Is Gruden Worth Now?

WENN
Jon Gruden is the highly-paid head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Gruden initially discussed rumors on Wednesday during ESPN’s Golic and Wingo talk show, saying that there’s a good chance he’ll take up a job for the Oakland Raiders as head coach of the team. However, he quickly shot down other rumors that suggested he was offered an ownership stake in that Oakland NFL team. The Raiders have signed Gruden to a 10-year $100 million contract.
Gruden was both a successful sports analyst and football coach. He led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory in the 2003 Super Bowl (XXXVII) as their head coach. At that time, he was the youngest coach in history to lead his team to victory in the Super Bowl at 39-years-old (plus 5 months and 9 days). In 2017, he received that team’s Ring of Honor for his contributions as head coach of the Buccaneers from 2002 to 2008. He was also the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 1998 to 2001. If reports turn out to be true then Gruden may just be the head coach of the Raiders once again.
While we wait for more news regarding Gruden’s potential future role with the Raiders, let’s look at how much money this man has accumulated over the years…

Jon Gruden Net Worth as of 2019: $22.5 Million

Jon Gruden’s net worth rolls in at a sweet $22.5 million. In 2015, it was reported that Gruden received a yearly salary of $6.5 million for his job as an ESPN color commentator for Monday Night Football. This large chunk of change made Gruden ESPN’s highest-paid on-air employee. But Gruden will reportedly make even more money as head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Sports radio talk show host Benjamin Allbright tweeted out that if Gruden does, in fact, take the job then he’ll receive a salary of $10 million a year (but this number hasn’t been confirmed as Gruden still hasn’t taken up the mantle of the head coach). According to a report from NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Raiders are preparing to draw up a 10-year contract for Gruden worth $100 million.
This guy sure has a lot of money. Let’s take a look at his road to riches…

Gruden began his career as a coach soon after graduating the University of Dayton in 1985 with a degree in communications. During the 1985-1986 NCAA football season, Gruden worked as a graduate assistant coach for the University of Tennessee‘ Volunteers. He spent the next six years working as a coach for a variety of colleges, such Southeast Missouri State (1988), University of the Pacific (1989), and University of Pittsburg (1991). By 1990, he was already the special assistant coach of quarterbacks coach Mike Holmgren for the San Francisco 49ers.
In January 1992, Gruden joined the Green Bay Packers as their special offensive assistant/wide receivers coach. After three seasons with the Packers, he moved onto the Philadelphia Eagles where he worked as the offensive coordinator of the team.
In 1998, he signed on with the Oakland Raiders as their head coach. While with the team, he gained the nickname of “Chucky” for his resemblance to the fictional killer doll from the 1988 supernatural slasher Child’s Play. During the 2000 season, he led the Raiders to their first division title in a decade, as they reached the AFC Championship, ultimately losing out to the eventual Super Bowl champions the Baltimore Ravens.

In 2002, Gruden received an astonishing $17.5 million 5-year contract to become the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He led the Bucs to Super Bowl glory in 2003 as they defeated Gruden’s former team the Oakland Raiders, 48-21. Gruden stayed with the Buccaneers until 2009 when he was fired after the team ended the season with four losses in a row.
Following his career with the Buccaneers, Gruden was picked up by ESPN to become a color analyst for their Monday Night Football telecasts. Each week, he gave out an award called the “Gruden Grinder” which names the best player during that week of Monday Night Football. While with ESPN, he also helped cover postseason college football games, such as the 2010 Rose Bowl and the 2011 Orange Bowl. In 2015, as an analyst for Monday Night Football, Gruden became ESPN’s highest-paid on-air employee with a yearly salary of $6.5 million.
