After staving off elimination by winning Game 4 in the Bronx, the Yankees forced the series back to Cleveland for a winner-take-all Game 5.
On the mound for the Yankees is ex-Indians pitcher CC Sabathia. Sabathia will toe the rubber with the season on the line in Wednesday’s Game 5. The veteran southpaw is 9-5 with a 4.47 ERA through 20 career playoff games (19 starts), including a strong 5 1/3-inning outing in Game 2
The Cleveland Indians will be pitching Cy Young candidate Corey Kluber, even though the Yankees lit up Kluber in Game 2. Kluber will start the winner-take-all Game 5 on regular rest. He went 11-3 with a 1.67 ERA in the regular season on his standard four days’ rest. Kluber struggled in Game 2, however, yielding six runs in 2 2/3 innings.
