The chili dog originated in Michigan. Varieties and different flavors of chili dogs can be found in Detroit, Flint, Jackson, Kalamazoo, and in southeastern areas of the state. Local Greek immigrants came up with the beef heart-based sauce that many people have come to enjoy on their dog.

The Coney Island Dog is a common nickname for the chili dog. Weird that Coney Island is all the way out in Brooklyn, but chili dogs were created in Michigan. On the other hand, Coney Island has always been known for their kickass hotdogs. They must make some foodgasm inspiring chili dogs over there. I kinda wanna go out and visit Coney Island sometime. I haven’t even tried a chili dog yet and I’m already 25-years-old. What have I been doing with my life? Seriously…
