Grab hold of that sucker because today is National Lollipop Day! If that type of candy gets you jollies, pick your favorite flavor and go to town on some lollies. Thursday, July 20, 2017, is a date that definitely sucks, but in a very good way.
George Smith invented the modern day lollipop way back in 1908. He had the idea of putting candy on a stick as a means to make the eating process easier. When lollies first hit the stores, they were soft candy. But as the years went on, the lollipops got rock hard and stayed that way.
Suck on that, folks!
