National Handshake Day is always the last Thursday of June. On this day, it’s time to put differences asides and shake hands. Imagine the world we’d live in if all enemies patched up their differences for one day in the name of peace, understanding, and one damn firm handshake.
June 29, 2017, is the day we celebrate the shaking of hands in the United States. But really, it’s about a mutual connection between humans on the grounds of hand-to-hand contact. This embracing communicative form can be celebrated in any corner of the globe, yet it has retained particular prominence in the good ol’ U.S.A.
Can you put your differences aside and shake the hand of someone who didn’t vote for your favored war hawk? Imagine Anti-Fa shaking the hand of a Trump supporter and vice versa. C’mon, political warriors of University of California, Berkley. It’s time to leave hate-mongering and mob-mentality tactics in the past, break down the walls of ideological segregation and individual suppression, and learn to cope with a world that contains more than one social dogma. Only then, can two competing polar opposites co-exist and prosper in a dynamic and evolving democratic process.
A handshake is a bridge between humans. It can effectively secure your role in the company if applied properly. It inspires and projects confidence. And can very well determine whether you get the job or not.
Then again, I know this guy who shakes everyone’s hand in the room multiple times whenever he drinks too much Coors Light. Every five minutes, it’s another handshake. And it could get a bit repetitive and irritating after a while.
