Facing off at the Kazan Arena in Russia this Thursday, Germany vs. Chile looks to be a contentious matchup in determining who finishes at the top of Group B. While Germany was the heavy pre-tournament favorite, their 3-2 victory over Australia was not quite the dominating performance many were expecting from the powerhouse soccer club.
Although Chile struggled throughout most of their opener to dispatch Cameroon with two late game goals, they did shut out their opponent. Given Germany’s somewhat porous defense, Chile could press the attack early and overwhelm German goaltender Bernd Leno.
For Germany to stave off defeat, they will have to manage the pace of play and tighten up their defensive shortcomings. Either way, this matchup has two high-quality soccer clubs that each bring unique skill sets to the table for what should be an extremely entertaining Confederations Cup matchup.
